Matthew Dempsey is a Vice President with George K. Baum & Company serving the Colorado Public Finance. He joined GKB in 2018 and is based in Denver, CO. Mr. Dempsey has extensive experience with debt structuring and issuance and financial modeling, and has advised on more than $3 billion in municipal debt. He has worked with municipal governments, water and wastewater authorities, school districts, TIF districts, economic development authorities, 501(c)(3) organizations, and public-private partnerships.
Prior to joining George K. Baum & Company, Mr. Dempsey worked for Ehlers & Associates in Denver, CO, and Public Financial Management in Arlington, VA, advising issuers of municipal bonds. He also has three years of experience as a financial consultant with Accenture, where he managed a team of analysts working on large government contracts. Mr. Dempsey served as a logistician in the United States Marine Corps and earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce. He also is a Chartered Financial Analyst with the CFA Institute and holds a Series 50 securities license.
