William H. Coughlin is Vice Chairman of George K. Baum & Company and a graduate of the University of Kansas where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics. He joined George K. Baum & Company's municipal bond department in 1968, became a Vice President in 1971 and was appointed President of the firm in 1982. Mr. Coughlin is responsible for overall risk management for the firm and works closely with the Firm's Capital Markets and Public Finane teams. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Security Industry Association (SIA) and Chair of the Seven State District No. 4 Business Conduct Committee of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).
Mr. Coughlin is widely involved in civic and charitable organizations, serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Kansas National Alumni Association; Treasurer of the Board of Trustees for the Pembroke Hill School; Board of Directors and Treasurer of Kansas City Public Television; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the American Red Cross; member of the Advancement Board for the University of Kansas Hospital, member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, member of the Board and Treasurer of the Catalyst Fund for Kansas City Public School Students and an Elder of the Village Presbyterian Church.
