Andy Sears is Executive Vice President and Co-Head of Public Finance at George K. Baum & Company. In his role, Mr. Sears oversees and supports the Firm’s public finance activities. He is a member of the senior leadership team and serves on the Firm’s Operating Team consisting of the Co-Heads of Public Finance, Capital Markets and Planning & Development. Collectively, the Operating Team assists in managing GKB’s municipal finance services.
Mr. Sears joined GKB in 2011. Prior to assuming his current responsibilities as Co-Head of Public Finance, he served as General Counsel for the Firm and its affiliates, responsible for the oversight of all legal matters, including the mitigation of legal and regulatory risk. Before joining GKB, Mr. Sears practiced law for thirty years, serving as SVP & General Counsel of U.S. Central FCU and its broker-dealer affiliate, after several years in private law practice in Chicago and Kansas City.
Mr. Sears received his JD degree from the Columbia University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from The College of Wooster. He was the first recipient of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship from Missouri. Mr. Sears is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
