Clean Renewable Energy Bonds (CREBs)

George K. Baum & Company has recently closed a successful Clean Renewable Energy Bond financing for the City of Fargo. We also assisted Colorado Springs Utilities in two CREB financings for two hydropower facilities. George K. Baum & Company has an extensive list of potential CREB purchasers and can guide a borrower through the financing process and prepare the plan of finance section of a CREB application. The next round of CREB applications are due August 4, 2009 and $2.4 billion is available. The allocations are as follows:
- $800 Million for Public Power Providers
- $800 Million for Governmental Bodies
- $800 Million for Cooperative Electric Companies

Financing Structure: Treasury Grant in lieu of Investment Tax Credit Equity, California Self Generation Incentive Program Equity and taxable bonds with a DOE Loan Guarantee or tax-exempt bonds
30 MW Wind Project for Private Wind Developer – South Dakota
Role: Underwriter, placement agent and financial advisory services
Project: 30 MW wind farm, wind will be sold via a power purchase agreement with a public utility district
Financing Structure: Investment Tax Credit equity, taxable bonds with a DOE Loan Guarantee and New Market Tax Credits
