Roger Edgar
Executive Vice President, Kansas City
Roger Edgar is an executive vice president with George K. Baum & Company and manager of the
firms public finance operations in Missouri and Kansas. Since joining the firm in 1982,
Mr. Edgar has participated in virtually every type of public finance transaction, including
general obligation, utility revenue, sales tax, lease revenue, economic development and revolving
fund financings.
Mr. Edgar has developed a strong working knowledge of state statutes and federal tax code relating
to the issuance of tax-exempt bonds. He has significant knowledge of and familiarity with the
Midwest bond market. Mr. Edgars experience includes service as financial advisor or lead
banker on more than 500 bond issues with a total dollar volume in excess of $6 billion. In his
time with the firm, he has completed successful financings for more than 150 issuers and structured
more than $1.5 billion in advance refundings.
Prior to joining George K. Baum & Company, Mr. Edgar worked for seven years providing grant
work and state and local government assistance to the U.S. Department of Health, Education &
Welfare and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Mr. Edgar holds an M.P.A. from the University of Missouri and is a member of the National Honor
Society for Public Affairs and Administration. He is also a member of various economic development
groups and serves on the Johnson County, Kansas Library Board, where he was president in 1998. He
serves as a member or associate member in several professional organizations, including the
Government Finance Officers Association, the Bond Market Association and numerous state and
local government professional organizations.
