Matthew Dempsey is a Vice President with George K. Baum & Company serving the Colorado Public Finance practice. He joined GKB in 2018 and is based in Denver, CO. Mr. Dempsey has extensive experience with debt structuring and issuance and financial modeling, and has advised on more than $7 billion in municipal debt. He has worked with municipal governments, water and wastewater authorities, school districts, TIF districts, economic development authorities, 501(c)(3) organizations, and public-private partnerships.
Prior to joining George K. Baum & Company, Mr. Dempsey spent more than five years working as a municipal advisor with Public Financial Management in Arlington, VA, and Ehlers & Associates in Denver, CO. He also has three years of experience as a financial consultant with Accenture, where he managed a team of analysts and associates working on large government contracts. Mr. Dempsey served as a logistician in the United States Marine Corps and earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst with the CFA Institute and holds Series 50, 52 and 63 licenses.
