Nick Waugh is a First Vice President in George K. Baum & Company’s Higher Education & Nonprofit Finance practice. Mr. Waugh is involved in the transaction, execution and quantitative structuring of both tax-exempt and taxable debt financings for colleges, universities and other nonprofit entities. He is involved in both general obligation and revenue bond financings, as well as privatized P3 student housing projects. He has completed financings on behalf of a variety of education and nonprofit clients with a focus on the Western United States. Recent transactions include two privatized housing projects for the California College of the Arts ($90 million) and Orange Coast College ($123 million).

Prior to joining GKB, Mr. Waugh served as a Director in the Education and Nonprofit Group at Standard & Poor’s (“S&P”). Mr. Waugh was a chair of rating committees, a primary analyst and a contributor to higher education criteria, including student housing criteria. During his tenure at S&P, he worked in the New York, NY, Boston, MA, and San Francisco, CA, offices. Mr. Waugh rated a broad range of institutions across the nation, including large public universities, ivy league universities, small private colleges, independent schools, museums, bio-medical research institutions, hospitals and social service providers.

Mr. Waugh earned his Master of Business Administration from the Yale School of Management and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Williams College. He is a Trustee and a Chair of the Finance Committee at Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley (an independent school).
