Karl R. Biggers is a Senior Vice President in George K. Baum & Company's Texas Public Finance group. During more than 22 years in investment banking, he has developed expertise in transportation, general obligation, water and sewer, and variable-rate financings for nonprofits.
Mr. Biggers has worked with some of the largest issuers in Texas, including the Texas Department of Transportation, Texas Water Development Board, Texas Public Finance Authority, The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, North Texas Tollway Authority, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, city of Dallas, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Dallas Independent School District, Dallas County Community College District and Trinity River Authority. He has also worked with other issuers, such as city of Cedar Hill, city of Irving, Leander Independent School District, Royse City Independent School District, Lewisville Independent School District, Cedar Hill Independent School District, DeSoto Independent School District and Wise County.
Mr. Biggers has served on the Board of Governors of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and was chairman of the board of Help Is Possible, a substance abuse treatment program. He has also served as cultural affairs commissioner for the city of Dallas.
Prior to joining George K. Baum & Company, Mr. Biggers was with Duncan-Williams where he opened the company's Dallas, TX, office. He previously worked as a banker with M.R. Beal & Company and as a municipal advisor for First Southwest Company and Southwest Securities in Dallas.
Mr. Biggers, a fifth generation Texan, holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Political Science from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin.
