Andy Sears is an Executive Vice President and Co-Head of Public Finance at George K. Baum & Company. Mr. Sears oversees and supports GKB’s public finance activities. He is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and serves on GKB’s Operating Team consisting of the Co-Heads of Public Finance, Capital Markets and Planning & Development. Collectively, the Operating Team assists in managing GKB’s municipal finance operations.
Mr. Sears joined GKB in 2011. Prior to assuming his current role as Co-Head of Public Finance, he served as General Counsel for GKB and its affiliates, and was responsible for the oversight of all legal matters, including the mitigation of legal and regulatory risk. Before joining GKB, Mr. Sears practiced law for 30 years, serving as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of U.S. Central FCU and its broker-dealer affiliate, after several years in private law practice in Chicago and Kansas City.
Mr. Sears received his Juris Doctor from the Columbia University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from The College of Wooster. He was the first recipient of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship from Missouri. Mr. Sears is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
